Position Summary

Brunel is currently recruiting an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer for an onshore contract assignment in Qatar. The position focuses on providing specialized mechanical maintenance engineering support across major oil and gas or petrochemical operating facilities. The appointed engineer will troubleshoot complex rotating and static equipment issues, oversee mechanical maintenance modifications, and optimize plant reliability.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Mechanical Maintenance Support: Deliver high-level engineering support for day-to-day preventive, corrective, and shutdown maintenance operations across static and rotating assets.
• Technical Problem-Solving: Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on mechanical equipment failures, including pumps, compressors, turbines, piping systems, and pressure vessels.
• Maintenance Engineering: Review MOCs (Management of Change), validate mechanical design modifications, and ensure compliance with international oil & gas engineering standards.
• Plant Reliability & Asset Integrity: Collaborate with operations and inspection teams to implement maintenance strategies that maximize plant availability and minimize unscheduled downtime.
• Vendor & Contractor Management: Supervise specialized mechanical contractors during plant turnarounds and major equipment overhauls.

Candidate Qualifications & Requirements

• Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
• Work Experience: Minimum of 6 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance engineering experience within the oil & gas or petrochemical operating sectors.
• Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in rotating equipment overhauls, static equipment maintenance, mechanical integrity codes (API, ASME), and troubleshooting complex plant breakdowns.
• Onshore Operations Experience: Proven background working on onshore processing plants, refineries, or petrochemical complexes in the GCC region.
