Core Operational Duties & Safety Responsibilities

Fire Watchers and Hole Watchers play a fundamental role in maintaining zero-incident work zones during high-risk plant maintenance activities:

• Fire Watch Duties: Continuously monitor hot-work operations (welding, cutting, grinding, heating) for sparks or slag; ensure fire extinguishers and pressurized fire hoses are rigged and functional; maintain post-work fire monitoring per site Work Permit guidelines.

• Hole Watch / Confined Space Duties: Maintain accurate entry/exit logs for all personnel entering vessels, columns, tanks, or pits; ensure continuous gas monitoring is conducted; verify ventilation blowers operate properly; remain posted continuously at the vessel entry point.

• Work Permit & PPE Verification: Verify that active Permit to Work (PTW) documentation is displayed at the job site and that all entrant technicians wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), safety harnesses, and gas detectors.

• Emergency Response Coordination: Maintain continuous communication with entrants inside confined spaces; immediately raise the site alarm and notify HSE officers and emergency response teams in the event of gas leaks, structural hazards, or worker distress.

Candidate Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for these safety monitoring roles for QCON Qatar, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Work Experience: Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in safety monitoring, fire watch, or hole watch duties within Oil & Gas refineries, petrochemical plants, fertilizer complexes, or power plants (GCC shutdown project experience is strongly preferred).
