Position Summary

Construction Engineering Consultancy (CEC Qatar), a leading engineering and architectural consultancy firm in Qatar, is seeking an experienced, highly technical Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a full-time role in Doha. The successful candidate will lead high-level mechanical design engineering, producing and reviewing technical designs for HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems across major commercial, residential, and institutional building projects.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Mechanical Systems Design: Lead the complete design lifecycle for HVAC (chilled water systems, VRF, air handling units), plumbing, drainage, fire suppression, and building automation systems (BAS/BMS) in strict accordance with local authority regulations and international codes.
• Calculations & Modeling: Perform cooling load calculations (using HAP or similar software), hydraulic pipe sizing, ductwork static pressure calculations, pump head calculations, and smoke management simulations.
• Interdisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate closely with Architectural, Structural, and Electrical design teams to resolve 3D spatial clashes, optimize MEP plant space allocation, and integrate sustainable building design practices.
• Authority Submittals & Approvals: Prepare engineering documentation, design reports, and technical submittals for Civil Defense (QCDD), Kahramaa, Ministry of Municipality, and relevant municipal approval bodies in Qatar.
• Technical Specifications & Review: Write detailed technical specifications, perform material submittal reviews, respond to site Requests for Information (RFIs), and value-engineer MEP design solutions for project clients.

Candidate Qualifications & Requirements

• Mandatory Certification: **Must hold a valid MMUP / UPDA Grade A Engineer Registration** in Mechanical Engineering from the Ministry of Municipality (Qatar).
• Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized, accredited university.
• Consultancy Experience: Minimum 10+ years of proven high-level mechanical design engineering experience within premier engineering consultancies in Qatar or the GCC.
• Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in HAP (Carrier), AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, and standard engineering design tools. ASHRAE / NFPA / GSAS / LEED accreditation is a strong advantage.
• Residency & NOC Status: **Must be currently based in Qatar** with a valid Qatar ID (QID) and a transferable visa / **No Objection Certificate (NOC)** ready for local joining.
• Key Competencies: Comprehensive mastery of Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS), QCDD requirements, and ASHRAE standards, combined with executive presentation and technical report writing abilities.
