1. Key Trade Responsibilities & Workshop Operations
Operational duties vary depending on the specific trade designation within the fabrication workshop:
- Fabricators / Fitters: Read and interpret fabrication drawings, perform layout markings, cutting, tack-welding, and precise fit-up of structural steel beams, plates, pipe spools, and tank shells.
- MIG Welders: Execute high-quality Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG) and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) on carbon and alloy steel components in accordance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Grinders / Finishing Crew: Perform pre-weld edge preparation, beveling, root pass cleaning, flush grinding, spatters removal, and surface finishing using power angle grinders and pneumatic tools.
- Machine Operators: Set up and operate workshop machinery such as CNC cutting machines, plate rolling machines, press brakes, shearing tools, radial drills, or band saws.
- All Trades: Strictly maintain workshop safety protocols, wear mandatory PPE, perform daily machine maintenance, and keep fabrication bays clean and organized.
