1. Key Responsibilities & Material Handling Scope
Operational duties depend on the specific trade designation within the workshop and yard operations:
- Riggers: Inspect slinging equipment (wire ropes, nylon slings, shackles, chain blocks), determine load center of gravity, guide overhead cranes/gantry cranes, and safely direct heavy structural steel and tank shell lifting operations using standardized hand signals.
- Forklift Operators: Safely operate industrial diesel/electric forklifts to transport raw steel plates, pipes, steel profiles, pallets, and finished fabricated items between storage yards and workshop cutting/welding bays.
- Conduct daily pre-operational safety inspections on lifting gear, forklift hydraulic systems, brakes, steering, and safety warning devices.
- Ensure all loads are within safe working load (SWL) limits, properly balanced, and secured prior to movement.
- Adhere strictly to workshop floor speed limits, pedestrian clearance zones, overhead lifting safety, and company HSE protocols.
