Position Summary

An established oil and gas company in Qatar is currently seeking an experienced QA/QC Welding Inspector for a project-based assignment. This specialized quality assurance role is responsible for inspecting live structural and piping welding operations, monitoring welder performance, reviewing Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), verifying Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) results, and ensuring all fabrication meets strict international energy standards and client project requirements.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Welding Quality Inspection: Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of root passes, hot passes, and final weld profiles on cross-country pipelines, pressure vessels, structural steel, and process piping.
• Procedural Verification: Ensure full compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
• NDT Coordination & Review: Coordinate and witness Non-Destructive Testing activities (RT, UT, MT, PT), review radiographic films, and evaluate NDT reports against acceptance criteria.
• Joint Fit-Up & Material Inspection: Perform fit-up inspections, verify base metal heat numbers, check filler material batch certificates, and ensure proper pre-heating and post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) parameters.
• Quality Documentation: Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for weld defects, compile comprehensive weld tracking logs, maintain inspection dossiers, and support final project certification.

Candidate Qualifications & Requirements

• Work Experience: Demonstrated hands-on experience in **QA/QC welding inspection** within oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, or heavy industrial fabrication projects.
• Industry Certifications: Recognized welding certifications such as **CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2** or **AWS-CWI** are strongly preferred. NDT Level II credentials (RT, UT, MT, PT) are an advantage.
• Technical Standards: Solid working knowledge of international welding codes and standards, including ASME IX, ASME B31.3, API 1104, and AWS D1.1.
• Core Skills: Strong eye for detail, clear documentation abilities, and effective communication skills to liaise with client inspectors and site fabrication teams.
• Residency & Availability: Candidates based in Qatar with immediate availability and a valid QID are preferred.
