1. Key Responsibilities & Document Control Operations
As an O&G Document Controller, your daily responsibilities will center on maintaining rigorous quality and revision control across complex technical documentation:
- Receive, log, index, and distribute technical engineering drawings, P&IDs, vendor data packages, Material Test Reports (MTR), Inspection Test Plans (ITP), and RFIs in accordance with project procedures.
- Manage the Master Document Register (MDR) and Supplier Document Register (SDR), ensuring strict revision numbering, status tagging, and workflow tracking.
- Generate, process, and track formal Document Transmittal Notices (DTN) for correspondence between EPC teams, subcontractors, vendors, and client engineering leads.
- Administer Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS)—including Oracle Aconex, SharePoint, or internal databases—guaranteeing rapid file retrieval and compliance.
- Perform quality compliance checks on incoming vendor packages and engineering deliverables prior to client submittal, verifying naming conventions, metadata, and formatting.
- Support project closeout activities, preparing turnover dossiers, as-built drawing packages, and operation & maintenance (O&M) manuals for final handover to the operator.
