1. Key Responsibilities & Daily Workshop Operations
As a Steel Fabricator at Etihad Steel Factory, your core daily responsibilities will involve precise metal fitting, assembly, and fabrication work:
- Interpret and work directly from structural engineering drawings, fabrication blueprints, shop drawings, and bill of materials (BOM).
- Measure, mark, cut, burn, notch, and layout steel plates, H-beams, I-beams, angles, channels, and hollow sections accurately using manual and mechanical tools.
- Align, fit-up, and assemble structural components using clamps, jigs, fixtures, tack-welding (SMAW/MIG), and bolting methods.
- Operate workshop machinery safely, including hydraulic shears, press brakes, radial drills, band saws, and magnetic drilling machines.
- Perform pre-welding fit-up checks, ensuring correct joint preparation, beveling, gap spacing, and dimensional tolerances before final production welding.
- Maintain strict shop-floor health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices, wearing appropriate PPE and adhering to safe lifting and hot-work protocols.
