1. Key Responsibilities & Operations Scope

As a Sand Blaster, your daily site tasks will center around equipment setup, abrasive surface treatment, profile inspection, and strict environmental safety controls:

  • Perform abrasive sandblasting, copper slag blasting, or shot blasting on structural steel members, piping spools, storage tanks, and industrial equipment to achieve designated surface cleanliness profiles (e.g., Sa 2.5 / Sa 3).
  • Operate and maintain abrasive blasting pots, air compressors, blast hoses, deadman safety switches, nozzles, moisture separators, and air breathing purifiers.
  • Inspect target surfaces prior to blasting to remove oil, grease, mill scale, rust, old coatings, and contaminants in accordance with SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards.
  • Ensure correct abrasive media selection, air pressure control, and nozzle distance to achieve specified anchor profile depths required for protective painting and coating adhesion.
  • Conduct daily routine inspection and preventive maintenance of blasting machinery, replacing worn blast nozzles, gaskets, and damaged pressure hoses as required.
  • Comply strictly with personal protective equipment (PPE) mandates, including positive-pressure air-fed blasting helmets, ear protection, heavy-duty leather suits, safety boots, and dust control systems.

2. Candidate Eligibility & Selection Criteria
